Biography
Eldest son of Henry Livingston Sr. and Susannah Conklin, born the same year his parents eloped. Educated at Rev. Chauncey Graham's school in Fishkill and briefly at King's College (1756–57, left due to smallpox epidemic). Read law under Bartholomew Crannell and married Crannell's daughter Catharine in 1763. Law partner of James Kent (future Chancellor of NY). An Elder of the Dutch Reformed Church and early member of the Poughkeepsie Anti-slavery Society (1787).
