About This Project

The story behind the Livingston Family History website.

Why This Site Exists

The Livingston family's 400-year history is scattered across dozens of books, academic papers, and archival collections. This project pulls those threads together into one place: for family members tracing their roots, history buffs exploring the founding era, and genealogists connecting the branches.

Sources & Methodology

Research draws from Clare Brandt's An American Aristocracy: The Livingstons, Cynthia Kierner's Traders and Gentlefolk, the New-York Historical Society archives, the Clermont State Historic Site collections, and peer-reviewed genealogical databases. Every claim is sourced wherever possible.

Privacy

Living family members and anyone born after 1950 are shown with limited detail (name and general relationship only) unless explicit consent has been given. If you are a family member and wish to be included or excluded, please get in touch.
