Robert Winthrop Kean (1893–1980)

Son of Senator Hamilton Fish Kean and Katharine Taylor Winthrop. Graduated Harvard (1915) and served in World War I. A Republican U.S. Representative from New Jersey's 12th district (later 11th) for ten terms (1939–1959). Married Elizabeth Stuyvesant Howard (1897–1988). Father of six children, including Governor Thomas Howard Kean of New Jersey (b. 1935, chair of the 9/11 Commission) and Congressman Hamilton Fish Kean (b. 1925). Through his Howard mother-in-law he re-connected the Kean line to the Stuyvesant family, echoing his great-great-grandmother Elizabeth Stuyvesant Fish.
