Biography
Gertrude Laura Livingston married Charles Tidyman Lowndes (1808–1885) of Charleston, South Carolina, linking the Hudson Valley Livingstons to the Lowndes rice-planter dynasty. She divided her time between Staatsburgh, New York, and the Lowndes properties in the Low Country.
