Biography
Edmund Pendleton Livingston (October 23, 1889 – 1972). Born in Hudson, Columbia County, New York. Third and youngest son of Herman Thong Livingston (1856–1936) and Emmeline Cornell Hopkins (1859–1940). Named after his paternal great-uncle Edmund Pendleton Livingston (1857–1888) who died young, and ultimately after the Pendleton family of Hyde Park (his grandmother Susan Bard Rogers was the daughter of Anna Pendleton). Earned a Master's in geology from Cornell University. Married Kathleen 'Kitty' Imelda O'Connor (1892–1982) of Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland, on May 26, 1923 in Manhattan. The couple moved to Canada, where Edmund spent his career as a geological engineer working across Western Canada. Their eldest son Edmund Livingston (1924–2019) was also a geological engineer who settled in Victoria, BC. Through Edmund Pendleton the Livingston direct line made its decisive transition from Hudson Valley American aristocracy to the Canadian professional middle class. Great-grandfather of Brendan Tobin.
