Constance Hopkins (1606–1677)
1606–1677
Mayflower passenger (1620); Plymouth Colony matriarch
Biography
The family's gateway Mayflower ancestor. Daughter of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins and his first wife Mary Kent; baptized 11 May 1606 at Hursley, Hampshire, England. Sailed on the Mayflower in 1620 at about age 14 with her father, stepmother Elizabeth (Fisher) Hopkins, brother Giles, and half-sister Damaris; her half-brother Oceanus was born during the crossing. Married Nicholas Snow (who arrived at Plymouth in 1623 aboard the Anne) circa 1627; the couple moved to Nauset/Eastham on Cape Cod in the 1640s and had about 12 children. Died at Eastham in October 1677. The family's documented Mayflower descent runs through her daughter Elizabeth Snow, down the Rogers and Totman lines, to Grace Amina Totman, Levi Spencer Corser, and Dorothy Lucille Corser. (10th great-grandmother of the present generation.) Note: her father Stephen Hopkins was himself a Mayflower passenger, so this line descends from two Hopkins passengers.
