Biography

Mayflower passenger and the earliest-generation ancestor on the Rogers branch of this line. A merchant of Watford, Northamptonshire, England, who removed to Leiden, Holland, where he became a citizen in 1618. Born about 1572 (exact date unproven). He sailed on the Mayflower in 1620 with his teenage son Joseph, leaving his wife Alice (Cosford) and other children in Leiden. He signed the Mayflower Compact and died during the first winter at Plymouth, early 1621. Direct ancestor through his son, Mayflower passenger Joseph Rogers. (His wife Alice Cosford is a documented future target.)
