Biography

The family's third Mayflower passenger in this descent (after Constance and Stephen Hopkins), entering through the Rogers side. Born 23 January 1602/3 at Watford, Northamptonshire, England, son of Mayflower passenger Thomas Rogers and Alice (Cosford). The family went to Leiden, Holland (recorded 1618); by 1620 Joseph, about 17, came with his father Thomas on the Mayflower while his mother and other siblings stayed in Leiden. His father died the first winter; Joseph was taken in by Governor Bradford. He settled at Duxbury and later Eastham. Died at Eastham between 2 and 15 January 1677/8. Direct ancestor through his son Thomas Rogers (1638–1678), who married Elizabeth Snow. (His wife Hannah and mother Alice Cosford are documented future targets.)
