Susan Livingston (1759–1853)

Susannah M. "Susan" Livingston. Daughter of Peter Van Brugh Livingston (1710–1792) and Mary Alexander (1721–1767). Married first (1786) Continental Congressman John Kean (1756–1795) of South Carolina, father of Senator John Kean, US Representative Hamilton Fish Kean, and grandfather of US Senator Hamilton Fish Kean. Married second (1800) Count Julian Ursyn Niemcewicz (1757–1841), the famous Polish poet, playwright, and patriot companion-in-arms of Tadeusz Kościuszko. Established a scholarship at the College of New Jersey (Princeton) in honor of her father.
