Rachel Rice (1762–1857)

Wife of Thomas Totman and mother of Ward Totman. Born 7 October 1762 at Charlemont, Franklin County, Massachusetts, a descendant of Deacon Edmund Rice (the 1638 Sudbury immigrant) through her father Samuel Rice. She and Thomas Totman of Colrain declared their intention to marry 22 September 1783 (the marriage is also recorded as 1 October 1782) at Charlemont/Colrain; the family later moved to Luzerne, New York. Died in 1857. Direct ancestor through her son Ward Totman. (Her parents Samuel Rice and Dorothy Stevens are documented future targets; this line connects the family to the large, well-documented Edmund Rice descent.)
