Biography
Husband of Catherine Livingston (1744–1832), daughter of Robert Livingston, 3rd Lord of the Manor. Brother of Walter Patterson, first Governor of Prince Edward Island (then St. John's Island). Their son Commodore Daniel Todd Patterson (1786–1839) was a noted US Navy officer at the Battle of New Orleans. Grandfather of Admiral David Dixon Porter (1813–1891, Union Navy Civil War hero) through his daughter Georgia Ann Patterson.
