Edwin Brockholst Livingston (1852–1929)

Amateur historian and genealogist whose life's work was documenting the Scottish house of Livingston of Callendar and its American offshoots. His 1910 volume remains the standard printed genealogy of the family.

## Life

- Born 17 August 1852 in New York City, son of Jasper Livingston and Mary (Shuttleworth) Livingston.

- A shipping insurance broker who lived in London.

- Married Alice Mary Power (1850–1926) on 5 October 1875 in Mannheim; the couple had seven children.

- Died 14 May 1929 at his daughter Cornelia's residence, the Château de Montalègre, Versols-et-Lapeyre, France.

## How he connects to the family

Edwin descended from Judge Henry Brockholst Livingston (1757–1823) — already in this database — through Henry's daughter Eliza Livingston (by his first marriage to Catherine Keteltas). Eliza married Jasper Hall Livingston of Jamaica, himself a descendant of Philip Livingston, the Signer; their son Jasper Livingston was Edwin's father.
