Catherine Livingston (1751–1813)

Catherine Livingston (1751–1813). Daughter of Governor William Livingston of New Jersey (1723–1790) and Susannah French. Married first in 1787 Matthew Ridley of Baltimore, diplomat and merchant (d. 1789). Married second on November 3, 1796 to her kinsman John Livingston of Oak Hill (1749–1822), thus becoming John's second wife after the death of his first wife Mary Ann LeRoy in 1797. Her daughter from her first marriage, Susan Anne Livingston Ridley Sedgwick, was a popular children's book author. No biological children by John Livingston.
